Back to Old Santa. With three kids, we just completed several Christmas events that included Santa Claus. We have the kids take pictures with Santa early in the season and then we have Christmas functions at the two little ones' school. Of course while taking the pictures, Santa asked the kids what they wanted for Christmas. We listened and tried to make the reasonable request happen. Then we met Santa at my buddy's clubhouse a few weeks later. Of course, Santa asked what they wanted for Christmas and if they were good or bad little boys/girls. Finally, at DP and Jr.'s school there was another Santa Claus who asked the normal Santa Claus questions. After this event, DP tells SuperMom "Santa has a bad memory". SuperMom asks why and DP replies "He has asked me three times now what I want for Christmas". "I don't know why he can't remember what I told him the last time he saw me." I want to tell him that Santa just has Alzheimer's disease, but I don't want to traumatize him. I am sure next year he will have this Santa story figured out and as Ricky used to say "Lucy, you got some 'splaining to do". I am sure that will be an interesting conversation.
So in a previous post, I mentioned that I had to break the news to Lu that Santa Claus was not real. It was not a pleasant experience at all. I fear that I will be repeating that experience with DP sooner than I want. Remember he is not the "every thing is great and life is wonderful" type like Lu is. He is the "black and white" literal type. Poor sense of humor, poor at reading between the lines, but great at seeing the question or situation and determine the answer or the most probable outcome. He is the "Mr. Spock" of our family. In fact, I can almost hear him saying "Damn it Jim, that is not logical!". For you non Star Trek fans, Jim is Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock is the first officer and science officer. Back to Old Santa. You could tell him what the girls think... All those Santa's are his helper because it gets so busy that time a year he needs a little help getting to all the kids.
