So Jr is not a sleeper. He never has been. He just doesn't need much of it and doesn't like it. DP is early to bed and early to rise. Not Jr, he wants to stay up all night and still get up with DP. So Saturday night, I was not very sleepy myself and was up watching college football. It was around 1:30 am, and I was watching some game from the west coast. Down the stairs comes Jr. He asks "Where is Mom? I want to ask her something." I told him that she was asleep, he wasn't going to ask her something, and what did he want? I also asked why he was up? He ignored all questions and took a seat on the coach in my spot. He then asks "Is this the Patriots? Who are they playing? What is the score?" I tell him it isn't and that he needs to go back to sleep. Again, acting like I am talking to myself, he says "Are these teams any good? When does the Patriots play?" Once again, I instruct him to get back in bed. He finally acknowledges that I am talking to him instead of myself and proceeds to head back to bed. I know my Steeler friends won't like this, but Jr is a front runner. And last year the Patriots were in the front most of the year. Now DP is a Broncos fan, because of the obvious reason and because he too is a front runner. It is amazing to me that no matter what football game I am watching DP asks me who I want to win and if they are losing he yells "Come on Team A, you have to beat Team B!" Like he immediately is in love with the team I picked. Every time. If I say, it doesn't matter who wins, then he picks the one leading and cheers for them. Oh well, last week we cheered for Colorado State.
Recently, Jr has started playing Madden Football with DP. This has lead to him becoming a New England Patriots fan and in particular a Tom Brady fan. He tells everyone how the Patriots were 14-4 last year (I am assuming he is including playoffs and I am not even sure if this is correct). I must remind you that he has never watched a football game other than DP's. Not one. He couldn't pick the Patriots from a high school team. However, that is his team and Brady is his guy. So Jr is not a sleeper. He never has been. He just doesn't need much of it and doesn't like it. DP is early to bed and early to rise. Not Jr, he wants to stay up all night and still get up with DP. So last night we were driving back home after being on a day long trip to north Florida. It was approximately 9:00 pm and we had been on the road for approximately 4 hours. I pull into a gas station to get gas and to let the subjects use the facilities. Jr was one of the ones who had to go. This is a truck stop gas station and is always packed. In the gas pump lines, there were two air boats. This is not uncommon in Florida. So, as Jr was getting out of the car, he shouts "OMG, It's a Hover Craft!". Like that is normal talk. I shake my head and just take him into the gas station. When we return to the car, most of the others are waiting. DP is watching a movie, SuperMom is playing on her phone, and Lu is still inside. Just then, Jr says "Mom, you have been cheating on me". Now this we must here. So SuperMom asks how am I cheating on you. He then says, I know you have been playing the DOTS game on your phone without me and I can hear it now. Also, I know that you have purchased extra moves. Of course, SuperMom laughs. Not me, I am mad the entire rest of the trip because I am married to a cheater. Of well, I am on pins and needles wondering what wisdom will spew out of his ever moving mouth today. So Jr is the great age of seven. He is very good at reading words and reads everything he sees. This includes words he shouldn't read. He has also heard words that he shouldn't hear. This is from other kids, the TV, and the radio. The other day, SuperMom said that she had a CRACK in her phone. After hearing this, Jr stated, "Mom you said my favorite word. C-R-A-P." Of course, SuperMom corrected him. He then stated he can't wait to be eight because he can say C-R-A-P once he is eight. I am not sure what his deal is with bad words. A couple of days ago, Jr started asking about how you make a song and who decides how it gets on the radio and etc. After explaining the process to the best of my ability, Jr. said "When I become an adult, I am going to make a song with all the bad words in it". I am not sure why, but he wants to. I figured it couldn't be any worse than what is out there now. Maybe we will end up with a successful song writer in our future. |
