So the big game is coming up. The mighty Falcons versus the hard to beat Patriots. DP and I talk football all the time. He knows the players on the teams, their mascots, how good they are, and who we pull for. Jr on the other hand knows very little about football. Everything he knows he learned on Madden Football 2016. That is the version that has The Patriots as the best team with their famous quarterback Tom Brady. So, Jr.'s favorite team is the Patriots and his favorite player is Tom Brady. See, he is what we call a front runner. He picks his favorites based on how good they are doing at that time. Lucky for him, the Patriots and Tom Brady have been doing well for 15 years. I had to explain to him, that although he likes the Patriots, we are pulling for the Falcons this Sunday. See, the Falcons are my favorite team. My sister took me to my first football game almost 40 years ago, and it was a Falcons game. Since then, I have been to see many different teams play and even to the NFL Pro Bowl, but the Atlanta Falcons is my team. I told the two young subjects, that they have to root for the same team as their father (me) roots for unless future circumstances change that. For example, if one of them went to school at a place other than Florida, they can root for that team even if it is Florida State. Of course, they only go to FSU if they get a sports scholarship or something like that. It is the way of families. I root for the same teams as Na Pa does. I like the Chiefs too. I like the Royals and love the Braves. Even when they are adults, I explained they are Falcons, Gators, and Braves fans. DP understands this and pulls with all his heart for the team(s) I like. In fact, if I am watching a game when he comes in the room, he will ask who we are pulling for if it isn't one of the three mentioned above. If they are losing, he will yell "Ah come on! You can't lose this game." just like he has been watching the entire time and this is his/our favorite team. Now Jr., not so much. He is still a Patriots fan. After explaining the rules that Jr must first be a Falcons fan, I thought it was over. A couple days later, Jr came up to me and said "Can I be a Patriots fan after you die?". I see how much I am loved. If he is hoping I die so he can root for the Patriots, that is love for a team right there. Of course, I told him he can only root for the Patriots if they aren't playing the Falcons even after I am dead. Talk about future circumstances changing things.
