Sorry, about not posting for the last few days, but I was out doing real work. Today's blog will cover both DP and Jr. It directly addresses the reason why I have not had a full night's sleep in years. First, there is DP who is an earlier riser. I mean 5:30 in the morning riser. He goes to sleep early and wakes up early. Jr, not so much. In fact he is the opposite. He stays awake until we tie him down and sleeps to a late 7:30 am usually. I must say Jr. is like me and wakes up all through the night. He goes to sleep in one room and I find him in a different one every morning.
Let's start with DP. On the weekend's Dp will be up with nothing to do at zero dark thirty as we would say in the military. So he used to come into our room. Here is our normal conversation. "Dad, can I play your iPad?" Mind you it is usually around 6:00 am. "No! And don't wake me up to ask if you can play my iPad, I would reply. "Oh, I am sorry.", as he goes to leave. However, he stops at the door after processing my statement about not waking me up for the iPad and says "Well, can I play you phone then?" Again, I reply "No!". Literal as the day is long. He didn't say I couldn't ask about the iPhone. He is already awake so I should ask him about his phone are thoughts I am sure he had. These have become less and less frequent as he has aged.
Now to Jr who is often awakened by DP in the morning because Jr will be sleeping on the couch or somewhere when DP gets up. Last week Jr walks into our bedroom and says "Dad I need to tell you something". Well this can't be good I thought. I reply with "What do you need to tell me?". To my amazement he says "I let "Ranger" out, but don't worry he is under the table eating crumbs". Of course I get up and start trying to catch "Ranger" our sugar glider. In case you are not familiar with what a sugar glider is, it is basically a small flying squirrel hyped up on speed that sleeps during the day and runs amuck at night. I am sure I could have had a heart attack going from sleeping to full on squirrel catching mode. Heart is a racing, I am a sweating, kids are a laughing, I am not a sleeping is not the way I wanted to start my Saturday, Fun times they say. My hair used to be thick and not grey.
