So it has been brought to my attention that I have not been properly documenting my experiment with the subjects. I have failed to enter information into the journal at a timely manner. I plan to fix that today for my reviewers in the Valley. The first entry with focus on DP. So three weeks ago, school started for the three subjects. DP started third grade. I help SuperMom with the homework when it is in my lane or when I am available. So that means math stuff or computer stuff or presentations. However, this year I started working with DP on his spelling words. I call them out of Thursday night so he will be ready for his test on Friday. Words like repetition, independent, ought, temperature, restaurant, calendar, losing, lying, and more similar to these. After the first week, I was starting to think, Damn I don't remember third grade words being like this. What happened to "can, boat, truck, etc". So week two is a repeat of week one. More words that are difficult to spell. DP struggled with a word here and there, but made a 100 on all his tests. Then, the teacher sent an email out saying that so far they have been using a list of the 250 most misspelled words in the English language. Additionally, she stated that going forward the students will be able to pick between two lists. One from the 250 and one from the normal 3rd grade words. Of course DP being an overachiever picked the difficult words. I would have picked the other list. He is still perfect on his spelling tests. The issue is that I have to look at about half of the words on the page to make sure that he is spelling them correctly, because I am not sure how to spell them. Oh well, at least I can say I helped him become the genius he will become when he is older. That helps a little when you realize that your eight year old is smarter than you already. I did have a good run though, but there is a new sheriff in town now. I won't let on any time soon. FYI, I had to look up three words while writing this update.
