So, my little DP is in love with playing sports. He plays baseball in the spring and football in the fall. He wanted to play baseball this fall too, but there isn't enough days in the week. Last Saturday was his first game playing tackle football. It was a good time and they played hard. So this Monday was the first day of school for the kids in Central Florida. After a long day at school, DP had practice. It was extremely hot and we had to work on offensive and defensive line play. Well, big DP is a defensive end, so I worked with him and the D line on ways to get off the block, through the gap, attack the QB, flow to the ball, etc. He loved it and worked very hard even though he had a long day at school. After two hours, we were ready to go. DP took off his pads, helmet, and shirt. We got in the car and he complained about his head and his stomach. I was sure he hadn't consumed enough water during practice. However, at the end of practice he did drink a lot. While driving he asked me to pull over so he could throw up. I tried to help him understand that it was because he worked so hard in practice, it was extremely hot, he didn't drink enough during practice, and finally drank too much at the end. After he told me he felt better, I restated that he worked hard, put out maximum effort, was great, really was getting the concept, etc. As matter of fact as possible, DP says "I don't want to work hard anymore if it makes my stomach hurt." I understood his logic, but I guess he misunderstood my message. Anyway he was back out there yesterday giving it his all.
